Lambert Heller is the head of the Open Science Lab at TIB - Leibniz Information Centre for Science and Technology in Hannover, Germany, which serves as the German National Library of Science and Technology.

His work bridges traditional librarian and archival topics around preserving and distributing knowledge and other cultural heritage with advanced information studies and innovative digital approaches, focusing on the leading role of libraries in transforming traditional knowledge ecosystems towards open ones.

Kula & TIB

Lambert Heller served as the Kula: Library Futures Academy's inaugural International Visiting Fellow in the summer of 2025. During his fellowship, Lambert contributed to UVic Libraries' and KULA's understanding and implementation of open science and citizen science, related practices and community engagement.[1] He was also instrumental in facilitating European collaboration opportunities and introduced open source software, such as the Kompakkt 3D viewing software developed at TIB.

In the fall of 2025, Lambert was instrumental in supporting a Hannah Arendt Fellowship application that was awarded to Nathaniel Brunt and Ina Blümel,  Deputy Head of the Open Science Lab and Professor of Library and Information Studies at the Hanover University of Applied Sciences.
